Treatment of patients tends to get more and more complex and sophisticated regarding the drug itself, its administration and the handling and follow-up of the patients. The administration of the drugs needs more specialized environments that not all caregivers can provide, so patients are sometimes treated and followed-up at different sites. In addition to that it has become evident that for the patients to fully benefit from their treatment, they need to be followed for a longer period of time with a number of monitoring activities including follow-up via visits, telephone, compliance checks, surveys etc i.e. following a predefined “protocol” like in a clinical trial. This is known as adherence and adherence programs. Furthermore there are private caregivers that have prospect patients that they need to handle before they become actual patients.
These adherence programs cannot be administered through the regular journal system and the need for a system that can handle prospects, patients, different treatments and caregivers to secure the quality of the adherence programs was evident. xBook is a role based project tool developed for easy and efficient handling of data within adherence programs and between different caregivers.
Intended Use
xBook’s intended use is for managing patients, treatments, bookings and adherence (compliance) programs as a mix of a CRM1 and a journal system and as e-CRF2 in clinical trials, thus monitoring a treatment/adherence program. Its combination of handling prospects and actual patients makes it unique. All the treatments/adherence programs are predefined in a treatment log containing all the different waypoints (events) for that specific treatment/adherence program. xBook does not sustain or support life and special intervention is not necessary in case of failure. The input of data is of non-interventional characteristic (no alterations from ordinary clinical practice) and output is a summary thereof.
xBook version 1.0 is CE approved.
