Sweden's largest vaccinator 2019

Challenge: The aim was to increase the availability of vaccinations and the flow of customers to pharmacies. The long-term goal was to become a leading player in vaccinations by eventually expanding the number of pharmacies, opening hours, range of vaccinations, other health services and geographical coverage around Sweden.

Adxto's solution: On behalf of Apoteket AB, Adxto Care has operated vaccination clinics in pharmacies throughout Sweden since 2016. This has been particularly successful in regions where vaccination opportunities have been limited, for example at health clinics.

Results: In 2019, Adxto Care was Sweden's largest vaccinator, with 80 clinics around the country where we administered 155,000 doses in pharmacies throughout Sweden. A total of 140 nurses and doctors worked in the vaccination project. In the Stockholm Region and in Uppsala, Adxto participated in the free choice of care during the flu season. In most pharmacies, vaccination activities were enhanced with other patient-related services such as blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks and throat swabs. Do you want to know more? In-home Patient Support

Challenge: Our customer offers specialized, in-home treatment in neurology for the chronically ill. The challenge has been an overly complicated treatment, where patients have needed help titrating the doses both at home and in hospitals. The purpose of the project is to increase the clinical effect and patient safety when using the customer's product for treatment.

Adxto's solution: Adxto currently has a tripartite agreement with 25 hospitals. Our collaboration provides specially trained nurses who, on behalf of clinics, train healthcare staff in hospitals and in home care. Our nurses offer patients treatment for Parkinson's disease in patients' own homes, as well as training and telephone support (technical support). We provide feedback to the responsible clinic and ensure traceability of medical equipment. Medical recordkeeping takes place at Adxto. The project is being conducted in Sweden and Denmark.

Diabetes Wellness

Challenge: Diabetes Wellness is a fundraising foundation that has been working since 2007 to disseminate information about diabetes to the public and support diabetes-related research. Their challenge has been the staffing of nurses for their activities related to blood sugar control of the public.

Adxto's solution: Adxto offers rental of nursing services to Diabetes Wellness various events where our nurses take blood sugar control at the public. This takes place at training races and other community activities around the country with the aim of spreading information about diabetes, disease awareness and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. Our nurses also help provide support by phone and email regarding issues related to diabetes.

Results: Together we have managed to catch individuals with undetected disease and be able to refer them further for care. We have thus been able to prevent people at risk of developing diabetes from becoming ill in the long term. Want to know more? Contact Sofia

Screening project KOL

Challenge: On behalf of pharmaceutical companies in the Philippines, there was a need to identify individuals with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and create awareness about the disease throughout the country. The challenge in this case is that many people live with the disease without knowledge or diagnosis.

Adxto's solution: Adxto's solution: Adxto has implemented COPD screening tests (FBS/HbA1c/HPN/spirometry/medical exam) for the general public, in shopping malls and other public places, to identify individuals with undetected disease and refer them for care. The tests have been performed by our nurses, doctors and pulmonary therapists, who are not only trained in the field but are also trained to manage confidential patient information and report side effects in accordance with our customers' policy.

Results:With a total of about 200 employed nurses, doctors and pulmonary therapists working in the project, Adxto has conducted screening tests throughout the Philippines. We have succeeded in identifying individuals with undetected COPD and have been able to refer them for care. Enzyme support

Challenge: Studies show that only 30-50% of patients follow their prescribed drug treatment. This failure stems from factors such as insufficient or misunderstood information, denial of a medical condition, forgetfulness, and decreasing motivation over time. The customer wants to increase adherence to prescribed drug treatment of their product for patients diagnosed with endocrine pancreatic insufficiency to reduce gastrointestinal problems, increase QoL and increase the dose.

Adxto's solution: The purpose of Adxto's digital Patient Support Program is to create a bridge between healthcare and home help by providing additional support in the patient's home without the presence of medical staff. The goal of the Patient Support Program is to provide increased compliance with drug treatment through text messages, emails, data collection and nurse-originating phone calls from Adxto. The pharmaceutical company sponsors the patient support program, which is free for the patient. The pharmaceutical company in turn receives correct statistics and information about how the medicine works.

Results: Through targeted education, support and motivation, we have improved patients' adherence to their prescription, as there has generally been a dose increase within the recommended range for all 140 patients in the program. In this way, we obtain optimal treatment effect and can follow up on the actual use and treatment from the patient's perspective. Patients have experienced improved bowel habits and fewer stomach symptoms. They feel more energetic, are able to eat all kinds of foods, and have better QoL. COPD Adherence project

Challenge: The purpose of the project was to create and test a method and a program to find COPD patients and increase their compliance/adherence in use of the customer's product. The goal was to include 80 newly diagnosed COPD patients who had recently begun inhalation treatment with the product.

Adxto's solution: Adxto created a program designed to support each individual patient for 12 months, with the aim of increasing adherence by 30%-e points by the end of the program. This is compared to a baseline where only 25% of COPD patients are still using the customer's product after 12 months. Adxto recruited patients in collaboration with doctors at health centers and screening days. Our specially trained nurse provided telephone contact and support for a year to ensure that patients used the product correctly, and to increase compliance and convince patients to stop smoking to achieve better QoL.

RESULTS: Patients had an 80% adherence rate at 6 months follow-up (previously 35%) and 75% at 18 months follow-up (previously 25%). Want to know more? Contact Johan

Infusion clinic

Challenge/purpose: The customer wants to contribute to better infusion support for patients with prescriptions for the customer's product. The healthcare resources and experience to provide this support are limited. Patients need continuous infusion treatment that requires trained nurses to administer the drug and monitor patients when there is a risk of side effects.

Adxto's solution: Adxto offers doctors who do not have the space or resources to provide infusion treatments at their own clinics an opportunity to prescribe the client's medication and maintain the patient's own capacity for care, while outsourcing infusion treatment administration to Adxto's infusion clinic. Patients have also been offered the possibility to schedule infusion appointments after working hours, thus Adxto has tried to adapt infusion appointment times to the patient's wishes.

Results: Through the collaborative project, the right patients get access to drug treatment at Adxto's clinic. The healthcare system workload is also reduced because Adxto handles administration of infusion treatments after a treatment decision has been made. As a result of our infusion projects, Adxto has become Sweden's largest private infusion clinic; of all suppliers, we have delivered the most biologic infusions in Sweden. Do you want to know more? Sampling

Quality assurance project at a neurology clinic

Challenge: The clinic wanted to improve quality in the care of MS patients. The clinic also wanted to improve clinical processes and ensure good infusion support.

Adxto Solution: Adxto appointed a working group to map, describe and improve the clinical processes used by the Department of Neurology. In regular project meetings, the working group followed up tasks and presented results verbally and in writing. The project group worked according to the following structure:

  • Clinic routines and working methods were described in a current situation analysis.
  • Areas for improvement were identified.
  • Goals for improvements were clarified.
  • Continuous improvement work and follow-up actions were carried out according to established goals.
  • The project work was summarized and reported.

Result: the clinic was able to optimise patient visit procedures, which led to improved resource use, patient availability, patient safety and staff continuity. The quality assurance work has also led to common treatment practices in the Neurology clinics and improved procedures for recording and using data in the MS register to support analysis of the treatment provided at group level.

The work with treatment development has led to new routines. The regular project meetings that have been held have also been of value to the clinic. In regular project meetings, the working group followed up tasks and presented results verbally and in writing. The results of the project have been evaluated by the operations manager. Product launch Nordic region

Challenge:  A North American pharmaceutical company introduces a new treatment and needs to set up a Nordic sales organization to launch their product in all Nordic countries. The customer has no legal entity or company structure in the Nordic region and wants to launch the product immediately after EMEA approval.

Shared sales force

Challenge:  Today, when trying to land sales meetings, the competition is fierce for market presence and the healthcare staff's time. Two customers want to increase their market presence with a cost-effective solution.

Adxto's solution:  Adxto offers customers a shared sales force. The product specialists, together with Adxto's sales manager, work with products from two different, non-competing pharmaceutical companies, within an agreed geographical area for specially adapted customer groups. The pharmaceutical companies share the meeting time and costs and Adxto leads the sales team. Adxto handles sales training, meeting scheduling and coaching. Adxto reports back to the sales managers of the pharmaceutical companies.

Results: We have several successful projects that use shared sales forces. The main advantage is that companies have increased access to customers in a cost-effective way. There has also been a positive response from healthcare professionals, who have appreciated effective, interesting meetings, for example when two drugs have been able to complement each other within the same area of therapy.
